Top Reasons To Visit Your Local Urgent Care Clinic

If you’re looking for comprehensive medical care, consider a multicare urgent care clinic. Urgent care locations are prominent throughout the United States, serving upwards of three million people over the course of a single week. Staffed by more than 20,000 doctors, urgent care clinics provide a viable alternative to going to the emergency room or even your general care practitioner’s office (something that will be more than ideal if you develop the need for medical help during hours that your regular doctor doesn’t work).

After all, up to 85% of all urgent care clinics are actually open each and every single day of the week. Though it is not the norm, some urgent care centers are even open 24 hours of the day, seven days of the week, providing round the clock care for those who might develop the need for it. For many people, going to a walk-in clinic will save them time as well as money, making the need for the walk in urgent care center more prevalent than ever before.

And while you should still go to the nearest emergency room for a truly life threatening medical issue (such as a suspected stroke or heart attack), walk in urgent care centers can treat far more than you might think. For one thing, many can give out IV fluids. For those who suffer illnesses that cause them to become dehydrated, this can be truly critical for recovery.

Food poisoning patients, for instance, can greatly benefit from the ability to get an IV in an urgent care location. And food poisoning is more common than you might think, impacting more than 48 million people over the course of just one year – and that’s only just here in the United States, let alone elsewhere all throughout the world. And while food poisoning is typically something that one can recover from at home, some people end up very dehydrated as a result of it. This can all too quickly prove dangerous, with up to 3,000 people actually losing their lives as a result of food poisoning over the course of the typical year. But getting urgent care treatment in the form of IV fluids can help a person recover from food poisoning, avoiding many of the dangers that are posed by dehydration.

In addition to IVs, many urgent care locations also have x-ray machines on their premises. Such x-ray machines make it possible for these walk-in clinics to provide fracture diagnosis as well as minor fracture treatment. In fact, such medical care is possible at more than three quarters (around 80%) of all urgent care locations, a number that is only continuing to grow as time passes on. With a walk in clinic able to treat so much, many people avoid the long wait times and high costs associated with an emergency room visit, something that is hugely beneficial indeed – of this there is just no doubt.

Of course, more minor issues can also be handled in just about any given walk-in medical care clinic. The average walk-in medical clinic, for instance, is likely to see a good number of flu cases. After all, the flu has been known to infect up to a full one fifth of the population during particularly nasty flu seasons. Even during much more mild years, a good chunk of the American population will come down with the flu – at least 5% of it. And the flu is no joke, leading to complications like pneumonia and even sepsis in all too many. If you catch the flu early enough, however, you will likely be able to get an anti viral treatment, something that can be acquired in your local urgent care center. And anti viral treatments obtained in walk in clinics can reduce the duration of your flu, as well as its severity.

All things considered, the need for the urgent care center is a high one. After all, very nearly one quarter of the population of the United States has visited at least one urgent care location over the course of the last two years. In the years ahead, urgent care will only become more and more necessary.
