Acne is like the bad kind of house guest, it shows up at the worst times, never wants to leave, and leaves a mess in its wake. Nearly 85% of all people have acne at some point in their lives seen most often on their face, chest, and back, and acne is the most common skin disorder in the United States. Even though acne starts in puberty it is not restricted to any age group so it is important to develop a serious skin care routine to keep the acne at bay and leaving you with a clear, bright face.
The first step in any skin care routine is to invest in some quality skin products. Organic skin care lines and natural skin products are always a best bet because you know exactly what you are putting on your face and you can be assured the products will not be too harsh.
Consider your breakout type
There are many different kinds of acne.
Whiteheads are a buildup of dead skin cells that happen when you do not exfoliate your face regularly.
Hard, red cysts are typically caused by hormonal imbalances, where oil blocks hair follicles and deep pimples are formed.
A blackhead is an open clogged follicle that happens inside the pore, rather than outside like a whitehead.
Build an arsenal of products
Every person, no matter their skin type should have an arsenal of skin care products that will treat any skin condition. You should have:
1.A mild cleanser without any exfoliating product that can be used to wash your face morning and night.
2.An exfoliator, that will slough away dead skin cells. It should have a natural exfoliant that will not scratch your skin. You would use this product every three washes, and anything more may irritate your face.
3.A toner, this will be applied with a cotton pad after washing your face and it will restore the pH balance of your skin and prep it for moisturizing.
4.A gentle moisturizer that will provide at least 24 hours of hydration.
5.An acne spot treatment. Salicylic acid is quite powerful, and tea tree oil is a great natural treatment that will give you results within just a couple of days.
With these skin care routine tips on hand, treat your skin and you will soon see the clear skin you have always dreamed of!
